Nicole Ari Parker, an American actress who has appeared on film and television in addition to in stage productions, is known for her role as Teri Joseph, the fiery attorney featured in the show on Showtime called Soul Food. The actress is known under her maiden name of Nikki Kodjoe. Her birthplace and childhood was within Baltimore Maryland. As young, she demonstrated an aptitude for acting. Contractor was just 16 when she realized that performing would become her profession. She danced for almost 10 year. When she completed high school, she won a full Scholarship to University of Toronto. At the University of Toronto she completed an MA in Theatre, and also double majored with Psychology and Sociology. Following a year at University, Contractor went to an audition on a call-to-action basis for the show Pericles at the world-class and renowned Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and was offered the role of lead. The play received rave reviews and her performances during the 92 performances that the play was voted"the best show of 2002" by Canadian reviewers in 2002. Contractor accepted the invitation to join Stratford's Conservatory. There are only eight males and four females are admitted to a course of 20 weeks of classical theater.
